The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) worked with FlairSoft to develop the PermiTrack system, a comprehensive, web-based solution that provides up-to-the minute information on highway work permits from anywhere via desktop and mobile devices. Powered by FlairDocs, the PermiTrack system is NYSDOT’s latest effort to develop tools and processes that emphasize safety for the traveling public.
NYSDOT issues highway work permits to ensure safety for highway workers and the public to protect, maintain, and enhance the quality of the state highway system. Anyone who plans to undertake work on any part of the New York State highway system, its properties, or rights of way must obtain a permit. Some typical examples of this work would be permanent or temporary driveway installations and improvements, drainage work, slope work, sign installations, land developments, plantings, and the various activities of utilities in maintaining and installing their lines and equipment on the right of way.
PermiTrack is a powerful tool for NYSDOT’s customers, and the launch of this new application system is a significant step forward in implementing new technology across the agency. The system will allow applicants and permittees to apply for highway work permits online and manage the process from start to finish. Previously, individuals and organizations were required to submit a paper application to their local NYSDOT regional offices.
